I'm noticing some interesting behaviour when I want to modify text that I've written. If I exit to command mode and then use ^ to go to the beginning of the line to either modify from there or delete and start over.

what I'm noticing is a soft highlight that confuses me into thinking that the text is selected when it isn't actually... in this case, % doesn't appear to move the cursor but removes the highlight. $ does the correct thing in all cases. Video attached.
