somebody on 3/17/2024 was probing the site for vulnerabilities, and managed to trigger an application error by visiting a bogus /ptcl endpoint.

error: unexpected vertex type (culture)
error: request = /ptcl/swift-png/png/

we should disallow such requests entirely
